Creation of geospatial information system for Kstovo city authorities.

Site: The Nizhni Novgorod Region, Kstovo city.

Area: 5800 hectares

Customer: Administration of Kstovskiy municipal area of the Nizhni Novgorod Region

Equipment:

  • laser scanning system ALTM 3100 (Optech Inc.)
  • digital large-format aerophotocamera Vexcel UltraCam D (Microsoft Photogrammetry)
  • digital medium-format aerophotocamera Rollei (Rollei GmbH)

Output:

  • orthophotomaps of 1:500 scale in urban development
  • orthophotomaps of 1:2000 scale at plants
  • Digital elevation model (DEM) as contour lines
  • digital ground model (DGM) as laser reflection points
  • digital air photos including oblique ones

Applied use:

Precise orthophotoplans, DEM and DGM are the basis for municipal geo-information systems. The products are used for updation of old cartographical map-boards.

High-resolution images (Vexcel UltraCam D) and oblique images are widely used for assessment of road condition, streets, greenery and housing monitoring.

Our opinion:

Nowadays municipal economy is absolutely inconceivable without precise, full and up-to-date information, which is the key factor in taking efficient and strategical management decisions. Thus innovative technologies of data acquisition, processing and representation are extremely valuable. The project held in Kstovskiy area should be a prime example for other area and region administrations, as a good illustration of cost-efective use of latest technologies for the welfare of the city and its inhabitants.
