Engineering geodesic surveys

As part of Karelia ski resort building project

Site: Karelia, the Spasskaya Guba peninsula

Area: 160 km2

Equipment:

  • laser scanning system ALTM 2050 (Optech Inc.)
  • digital medium-format aerophotocamera Rollei (GmbH)

Output:

  • digital terrain models by way of regular trigonometrical networks with 1 m interval
  • digital terrain models by way of horizontals with 1 m, 2 m and 5 m counter interval and situation coils
  • 0.6 m resolution aerophotoimages – for coils identification

Digital file format: *DWG (AutoCAD 2004).

Applied use:

Digital terrain model received by the agency from airborne laser scanning technology – is the perfect solution for engineering automation. This technolgy makes it possible to choose and substantiate projected objects location as well as improve documentation quality by high-speed variable engineering, reduce the time needed for development, editing and publication of project documentations.

Engineering geodesic surveys for the development of touristic attraction «Arkhiz»

Site: Karachay-Cherkessia, Arkhiz region

Area: 160 km2

Equipment:

  • laser scanning system ALTM 3100 (Optech Inc.)
  • digital medium-format aerophotocamera Rollei (Rollei GmbH)

Output:

  • digital topographical plans in 1:2000 scale
  • special digital topographical plans in 1:5000 scale

Digital file format: *DWG (AutoCAD 2006)

Results:

Momentary completion of geodesic and engineering survey stage, highest quality of the cartographical material collected.

Charachteristics:

Uplands. Flying altitude – 3790 m. Elevation difference – 2300 m. The MI8 helicopter was used for the survey. The MI8 is an effective platform and is capable of providing the necessary resolution of mountainous terrain.

Due to the tight schedule and difficult terrain conditions, aerial survey with LiDAR and Digital camera was the only effective means of collecting the highly accurate geospatial information in a quick turnaround time frame.

The results were later presented to V.V. Putin (Preseident of Russian Federation) by M.A. Batdiev, the president of Karachay Cherkessia.
