Geokosmos to participate at MAP INDIA 2008. New approach

GEOKOSMOS participated in Map India 2008, the 11th International Exhibition and Conference on geospatial technologies held in Greater Noida, 6-8 February. This year has been marked for GEOKOSMOS by a new form of participation. The company has arranged LiDAR Workshop - "Laser Scanning and Digital Aerial Photography – Effective Solution for Indian Economy" on February 7th. Geokosmos speakers presented a number of case studies that featured those LiDAR projects recently performed by GEOKOSMOS in Asia, Middle East and other parts of the world. However, the focus of the workshop was on effective application of laser scanning and digital aerial imaging to different market segments and industries of the Indian Economy. Renovation and construction of railroads, creating GIS of the railroad infrastructure; urban planning and civil engineering; emergency forecast and monitoring – these are just some of the burning issues facing the country today. Peter Goellner, Vice President, International Business Development, states: “It has become a tradition for participating companies to arrange specialized workshops, share experience and demonstrate the outcomes of this or that project. Apart from the traditional approach, GEOKOSMOS showed how the cost-effective technologies can be adapted to the Indian environment.” Significant contribution to the workshop was made by Professor Bharat Lohani, Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. Being the prime expert in India on LiDAR, Professor Lohani delivered a presentation which came to be one the most vivid and appealing ones. Professor Lohani comments: “The booming Indian Economy today faces the need for high accuracy Geospatial data to sustain its growth across various industries and economic sectors. LiDAR in conjunction with Digital Aerial Photography are those effective technologies that will help solve a lot of tasks.” After the workshop meetings with Seniors of a number of local companies as well as with representatives of the state departments and municipal authorities were held at GEOKOSMOS booth.
